    Description

    Article no.: TAU-244-10

    Description

Tau aggregates are a defining hallmark of several neurodegenerative disorders collectively termed tauopathies, including Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia, where intracellular inclusions are associated with progressive neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.

Tau K18 (244–372) is a truncated fragment of the microtubule-associated protein tau, corresponding to residues 244–372 of the human tau sequence. This fragment contains the four microtubule-binding repeat domains of 4R tau, including the aggregation-prone hexapeptide motifs that drive tau self-assembly into fibrillar structures. Due to its high aggregation propensity and relevance to pathological tau assembly, Tau K18 is widely used as a model fragment for studying tau fibrillization, aggregation mechanisms, and tau-related neurodegenerative pathology.
