¹³C and ¹⁵N-isotope labeling of recombinant proteins

How it works

The recombinant system for protein expression and purification also facilitates uniform isotope labeling of ¹³C and/or ¹⁵N. The technique requires culturing of cells in minimal media, where the carbon and nitrogen source can be restricted and the desired isotope can be incorporated through the use of ¹³C glucose and/or ¹⁵NH₄Cl.
