Description

Tau aggregates are a defining hallmark of several neurodegenerative disorders collectively termed tauopathies, including Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia, where intracellular inclusions are associated with progressive neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.

Tau 412 (1N4R) is a human isoform of the microtubule-associated protein tau, comprising 412 amino acids generated by alternative splicing of the MAPT gene. In vivo, tau is primarily involved in the stabilization and assembly of neuronal microtubules, thereby supporting axonal transport and maintaining cytoskeletal integrity. The 1N4R isoform contains one N-terminal insert and four microtubule-binding repeat domains.
