    Apolipoprotein E is part of the chylomicron and Intermediate-density lipoproteins essential for the normal processing of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. ApoE is primarily produced by the liver and macrophages. In the central nervous system, ApoE is mainly produced by astrocytes and transports cholesterol to neurons via ApoE receptors.
